Job Opening: Director of Wellness & Spa – Destination Luxury Resort in Bhutan
Overview
We are seeking a visionary Director of Wellness & Spa to lead the holistic health and wellbeing division of our luxury destination resort. This role requires a seasoned leader with deep therapeutic expertise, proven resort leadership, and the ability to design transformative wellness journeys that integrate Eastern healing traditions with Western diagnostics.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Operations
Lead multi-disciplinary teams across spa, fitness, yoga, mindfulness, and medical/therapeutic departments.
Full P&L responsibility, ensuring commercial discipline while preserving healing integrity.
Uphold ultra-luxury brand standards (Forbes / LQA) with discretion for UHNW guests.
Program & Concept Development
Design structured wellness journeys (detox, stress recovery, longevity, lifestyle transformation).
Integrate Ayurveda, yoga therapy, physiotherapy, and holistic sciences with modern diagnostics.
Develop treatment menus, rituals, and multi-day programs balancing authenticity, guest outcomes, and revenue.
Translate brand vision into distinct spa concepts aligned with destination, culture, and guest profile.
Pre-Opening & Facility Planning
Collaborate with owners, developers, architects, and spa designers during pre-opening and repositioning projects.
Provide input on spa layout, hydrothermal zones, treatment room mix, and equipment selection.
Establish SOPs, treatment protocols, and service scripts for scalable excellence.
Continuous Innovation & Brand Governance
Monitor guest data and refine programs post-opening for seasonal and thematic relevance.
Manage media, awards, and brand reputation in the global wellness space.
Balance operational feasibility with guest-centered healing experiences.
Spiritual & Personal Practice
Embody calm, grounded leadership rooted in daily wellness practices (yoga, meditation, mindfulness).
Demonstrate emotional intelligence and comfort working in silence, ritual, and spiritual traditions.
Remote & High-Sensitivity Operations
Confidently manage wellness retreats in nature-based, remote environments.
Adapt programs to seasonal and environmental conditions.
Provide ethical judgment and crisis management for long-stay guests undergoing emotional transformation.
Candidate Profile
Experience: 10–15+ years in wellness, integrative health, or luxury spa environments, with progression into senior leadership.
Therapeutic Foundation: Ayurveda, Panchakarma, yoga therapy, physiotherapy, osteopathy, or integrative medicine background.
Resort Leadership: Proven track record in destination wellness retreats (not city spas).
Concept Development: Expertise in pre-opening, repositioning, and translating philosophy into built space, menus, and SOPs.
Luxury Hospitality: Familiarity with ultra-luxury standards, guest privacy, and brand governance.
Spiritual Maturity: Long-term engagement with wellness practices and traditions.
